IMPACTS OF WW2;

WW II had a big impact on what African Americans would tolerate.

When Truman Desegregated the military that had a huge impact and blacks started to understand that if they wanted freedom they had to fight for it. During this time millions of blacks made the trip up north and found the freedom they never knew prior to World War II ;most blacks lived in the south under Jim Crow.

Incidentally it’s also started blacks to vote more democratic because prior to this most blacks were natural Republicans. Despite the heroic efforts and the sacrifice of black soldiers, Whites still didn’t give them a break.

There are reports of black American soldiers being lynched in their uniforms! All you have to do is read about Jesse Owens a true American hero who had the race against thoroughbreds to earn a living! The period after reconstruction was the nadir in black history- almost worse than under slavery.
