Iltutmish, Qutbuddin Aibak's son-in-law, is looked upon as the real consolidator of the Turkish conquests in India, for the following reasons:

  • He won over the defiant Turkish Nobility by giving them land grants. Once they were quietened down, he turned his attention towards consolidation and recovery of Lost territories.
  • He ensured that the north-west part of his empire was protected against Mongol attacks.
  • He organised the nobility into a key group of forty called chahalgani so as to administrater the empire efficiently.

Hope It Helps♡~

Illtutmish is regarded as the real consolidator of Turkish conquests in north India because after coming to power he engaged in a series of battles to extend his empire. He was able to check the Mongol invasion from the Northwest frontier province and establish a strong foothold in North India.

Thank you very much!!!!
