Reflection of light :
A ray of light bounces in a parallel way after touching the plain surface . This bouncing of light is known as reflection . The line which arrives to bounce is known as incident ray and the ray that reflects is known as reflected ray .
The point where the ray touches the surface is called the normal and normal divides the reflected and incident ray into two equal angles .
Laws of reflection :
- The angle of incidence and the angle of reflection are equal .
- The incident ray , reflected ray and the normal lie on a same plane.
REFRACTION OF LIGHT :
When a ray of light , propagating ( along a straight line ) in one transparent medium enters another transparent medium, it it is observed to ( usually ) change its its direction of propagation, or to 'bend its path'. This observation is due to the phenomenon known as 'Refraction of light'. Such observations are basically due to the change in the speed of light as it goes from one medium to another medium.
We usually regard Refraction as the phenomenon in which the Ray of light , propagating in one transparent medium, changes its direction of propagation / bend its path when it goes into another ( different transparent ) medium.
★ What is Reflection ?
The turning back of light in the usual medium , when it falls on the surface is known as Reflection.
★ NOTE :-- Ray Diagram is shown in the above given attachment.
★ LAWS OF REFLECTION :
⭐ The incident ray, The reflected ray and the normal, to the mirror at the lie the point of Incidence all lie in the same plane.
⭐ Angle of Incidence is equal to the angle of Reflection.
