1) Those micro-organisms that cause diseases are known as disease causing agents. These agents are called pathogens. Some very common pathogens are listed below:
⇒ Viruses [All viruses are pathogenic in nature]
⇒ Protozoa [Only some are pathogenic]
⇒ Bacteria [Only some are pathogenic]
⇒ Fungi [Only some are pathogenic]
Even though simple medicines can be used to kill bacterial, fungal and protozoan diseases, those diseases caused by viruses will take time to get better.
2) Pathogens enter our body and cause diseases. These pathogens enter through air, water, food, physical contact or even through vectors. They enter our body and damage body cells causing an imbalance in the normal functioning of the body.
Viral diseases are caused when viruses stick themselves to the cell surface, later on penetrates it, open its DNA/RNA to the nucleus of the host cell and makes copies of the genetic material, thereby multiplying themselves.
In all the cases, they enter the body and damage the body cells.
