1. Once the seed is metabolically activated, germination proceeds according to the following stages: The seed coat (testa) ruptures and the embryonic root (radicle) grows into the ground to extract key nutrients and minerals. The cotyledon emerges and produces the growing shoot's first leaves.

Answer 1 :-

Understanding with basic concepts:-

  • Germination is the Process in which a plant is Developed from seed in specific environmental conditions.
  • Bean seed is a Dicot Seed means Bean seed has two cotyledon and cotyledon is the central part of a seed embryo to which the plumule and radicle are attached and they store food.
  • Plumule :- It is future shoot or immature shoot .
  • Radicle :- It is future root or immature root.
  • Germination in bean seed is Epigeal germination.

Understanding with practical :-

Materials Required:

  • Bean seeds.
  • Cotton cloth
  • Water

Process :

  • Step 1 :- Taking bean seeds.
  • Step 2 :- Soaking seeds in Water for 8 to 9 hours.
  • Step 3 :- After that take out the seeds form water and tie them in cotton cloth.
  • Step 4 :- Removing cloth after 8 or 9 hour.

Observation :

  • A white thread like structure came out from seeds and small green colour structure on the seed.
  • This thread like structure is called Radicle and green colour structure is called Plumule.

Conclusion :

  • This implies that seed has started growing for developing in new plant. This process is called as germination.

Germination of bean seed :-

  • Germination of bean seed starts from bursting of seed coating due to uptake of water.
  • And first Radicle comes out form seed and starts growing downwards in soil.
  • After some time, Plumule also start growing upwards with cotyledons. This is called Embryo.
  • As Plumule become two green leaves, cotyledons fall down because all food and minerals stored in are secreted during growth of seed.
  • As Plumule grew up new leaves come and Radicle became tight roots and start providing water , mineral etc to plant.
  • This is the process of Germination of bean seed.

Answer 2 :-

  • Check the answer in given above images.
  • There is example which shows how seeds are dispersed and other are examples of seed which dispersed due to air.
