Given :

 \sf\dfrac{2x}{5} - \dfrac{x}{2} = \dfrac{5}{2}

To find :

  • The value of x

Solution :

\sf \implies \dfrac{2x}{5} - \dfrac{x}{2} = \dfrac{5}{2}

LCM of 5 and 2 = 10

\sf \implies \dfrac{4x - 5x}{10}  = \dfrac{5}{2}

\sf \implies \dfrac{ - x}{10}  = \dfrac{5}{2}

\sf \implies - x  = \dfrac{5}{2} \times 10

\sf \implies - x  = \dfrac{5}{\cancel2 \: 1} \times  \cancel{10} \:  \: 5

\sf \implies - x  =25

\sf \implies x  =  - 25

Answer : -25

Verification of Answer :

To verify your answer put x = -25 in :-

 \sf\dfrac{2x}{5} - \dfrac{x}{2} = \dfrac{5}{2}

If we get RHS = LHS then our answer is correct.

So put x = -25 in LHS :-

\implies\dfrac{2(-25)}{5} -\dfrac{(-25)}{2}

\implies 2(-5)+\dfrac{25}{2}

\implies -10+\dfrac{25}{2}

\implies \dfrac{25-20}{2} =\dfrac{5}{2}

Therefore LHS = RHS

hence verified
