Explanation:

parturition is the process of delivering the baby and placenta outside through vagina also called child birth or labour

three stages of parturition

  • dilation: abdominal and uterine muscle (myometrium layer )will contract and foetus head gets aligned towards cervix
  • expulsion/ejection : foetus will be expelled to the cervix under the influence of hormones
  • stage after birth : ejection of placenta

induction of parturition

foetal ejection reflex it is a neuroendocrine reflex from fully developed foetus and placenta

hormones involved

oxytocin

(birth hormone)

fetal ejection reflex triggers release of oxytocin from maternal pituitary that acts on uterine walls and cause stronger contractions

relaxin

secreted by placenta and some amount by ovary that relaxes pelvic ligaments and widens cervix

estrogen

secreted by ovary and some amount by placenta helps in cervical dilation

hope it helps you mate ..
