Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

Let, Present age of mother = x

Present age of son = Y

Now,

In our question, look at the first statement carefully :

6 YEARS AGO , THE AGE OF MOTHER ...

It means .. it is 6 less than from present age of mother ... i.e. (X- 6 )

..... AGE OF MOTHER WAS EQUAL TO THE SQUARE OF AGE OF SON ...

.... for this statement firstally .. take the age of son as (Y-6 ) ... [ age of son six years ago ]...

Now .. the statement says that the age of mother is double the age of son ... In order to equate their ages . We have to double age of son .i.e. (Y-6) ..

Therefore ...

We got our first equation :

(X - 6 ) = (Y - 6 ) ^2

Now ... come to the next line of

question ....

THREE YEARS HENCE , HER AGE WILL BE THRICE THE AGE OF SON ..

As statement tells ... three years hence .. means after next three years from present age so .. we have to add 3 in present age ..

So ... we got our second equation:

(X+3) = (Y+3) × 3

So .. we got two equations which we can solve by any of the following methods :

● Cross multiplication method

● Elimination method

● Substituion method

I have solved these equations by using substitution method that you can check in the pic that is attached with it ... ☺

After solving equations ... we got ..

i) X = 42 Y = 12

ii) X= 15 Y = 3

IF YOU STILL HAVE ANY DOUBT THEN YOU CAN ASK ME FREELY ...

HOPE IT WILL HELP YOU ...

#Good luck dear ....
