Step-by-step explanation:

Area of rectangle = l×b

l = X+5

b = 4

Area = 28

Area = (X+5)4

Area = 4x + 20

28 = 4x + 20

28-20 = 4x

4x = 8

x = 8/4

x = 2

l = X+5

l = 2+5

l = 7

b = 4

therefore, Area = 7×4 = 28

Answer :-

Given :-

  • Length = ( x + 5 ) cm
  • Breadth = 4 cm
  • Area = 28 cm²

To Find :-

  • Equation for area of the rectangle.
  • Value of x
  • Length and Breadth

Solution :-

We know that,

Area of rectangle = Length × Breadth

Substituting the values :-

→ ( x + 5 ) × 4 = 28

→ 4x + 20 = 28

We get the equation as -

4x + 20 = 28

Calculating the value of x :-

→ 4x + 20 = 28

→ 4x = 28 - 20

→ 4x = 8

→ x = 8 / 4

→ x = 2

Value of x = 2

Calculating the value of Length and Breadth :-

Length = x + 5 = 2 + 5

Length = 7 cm

Breadth = 4 cm

Verification :-

→ Area = 28 cm²

Also,

→ Area = Length × Breadth

→ Area = 7 × 4

→ Area = 28 cm²

Hence verified.
