Answer:

Flacidity is the condition in the the plant is not in fully erect position (straight)

Turgidity is the condition in which the plant is fully erect position

Lemme give u two different answers, one in accordance with the basics, ie ICSE syllabus...U just follow the first one...The second one is the real, ie, the advanced(BSc or MSc level)(don't write this in ur answer sheet, coz teacher will strike it out)

1)Basic concept

Turgidity:

In a cell, when the water flows from an area of lower solute(higher water conc.)

to an area of higher solute(lower water conc.), then the cell swells.(The above solution is said to be hypotonic). The swelling of cell pushes the plasma membrane against the cell wall(the pressure hence formed is called turgor pressure). This state is called turgidity.

So as a result, the whole plant stands erect.

Flaccidity:

In a cell, when the water flows from an area of higher solute(lower water conc.)

to an area of lower solute(higher water conc.), then the cell shrinks.(The above solution is said to be hypertonic). So, shrinking of cell as a result of the above process is called flaccidity.

So as a result, the whole plant doesn't stands erect.

2)A bit more advanced(explained):

Turgidity:

(same as above)

Flaccidity:

Actually flaccidity is the state b/w turgidity 'nd plasmolysis. Here, the plasma membrane isn't pushed against the cell wall. Flaccidity happens when a turgid cell(swollen cell) placed in an isotonic solution.Water moves out the plasma membrane until the water potential at both sides r equal.(here too the cell shrinks, but not completely). Therefore, there's no net movement of water across the membrane.(ie, both endosmosis 'nd exosmosis occurs @ the same rate.)(Also, clear absence of turgor pressure in this case).

Plasmolysis:

The extreme case of flaccidity is known as plasmolysis.(occurs in hypertonic soln.).Here, the water moves out from the cell, 'nd it shrinks to more extent.

Hope it helped u ☺️✌️

Else, pls feel free to report it!
