Consider a velocity - Time graph for a uniformly accelerated body starting from rest is represented as given in the attachment.

Here,

u = velocity at time t _{1}

v = velocity at time t_{ 2}

If acceleration is represented as a ,then, acceleration is defined as the rate of change in velocity.

 \longmapsto \rm \: a =  \frac{ v_{2}  - v _{1} }{ t_{2} -  t_{1} }

\longmapsto \rm a =  \frac{v - u}{t}

or,

\longmapsto \rm v -u  = at

\longmapsto \rm v   = u + at

Hence derived !!
