SONAR

Sound Navigation And Ranging

it is used to find the depth of the oceans , sea beds . shipwrecks , large objects ,lost submarines , airplanes which have sinked in water etc.

SONAR follows the principle of echo , a ultrasound will be sent through water and the time taken for the sound to reflect and come back will be calculated and after that distance will be measured.

A SONAR consists of 2 parts :1) transmitter which will emit ultrasonic waves2) detector which receives the reflected ultrasonic waves.

the transmitter will emit the ultrasonic sound and after the sound gets reflected back it will be detected by the detector and converts it into electrical signals.

time taken , speed , etc will be taken into consideration , distance will be calculated

the formula is 2d = v x t

2d -- distance traveled by sound

v --speed of sound in water

t = time
