Hey!!

 \\ x {}^{2} - 2x - 8 \\ \\ = x {}^{2} + 2x - 4x - 8 \\ \\ = > x(x + 2) -4(x + 2) \\ \\ = > (x + 2) = 0 \: \: or \: \: (x - 4) = 0 \\ \\ = > x = - 2 \: \: or \: \: x = 4

Therefore zeroes are - 2 and 4
_____________

Hope it helps ☺☺
