shadowsabers03: Hey, the answer is x = 0.
Aishwarya00001: The question is wrong !!
Aishwarya00001: you get 2= 1
shadowsabers03: You got x = x/2. Multiply 2 on both sides and we get 2x = x. Then subtract x from both sides and we get 2x - x = 0, i.e., x = 0. That's all!!!
shadowsabers03: There's no error in the question. How the question will be wrong?!
shadowsabers03: Did the question say that x is only a positive integer, or x is not equal to 0, or any other else?!
shadowsabers03: Nothing said. Here x can be of any value; real and unreal too.
Aishwarya00001: ok
Aishwarya00001: i have edited my answer , thank you
shadowsabers03: You're welcome.

Answer:

x = 0

Step-by-step explanation:

x=x\times \frac{50}{100} \\ \\ x=x\times \frac{1}{2} \\ \\ x=\frac{x}{2} \\ \\ 2x=x \\ \\ 2x-x=0 \\ \\ x=\bold{0}

So the answer is 0.

But I've found a trickier thing from this question.

Whenever you're asked to prove trickily that '2 = 1', you can apply this as the following:

x=x\times \frac{50}{100} \\ \\ x=x\times \frac{1}{2} \\ \\ x=\frac{x}{2} \\ \\ 2x=x \\ \\ \frac{2x}{x}=\frac{x}{x} \\ \\ 2 = 1

As we found that x = 0, dividing 2x and x each by x is invalid because any number can't be divided by 0.

So here, dividing both sides of 2x = x by x is the contradiction.

Thank you. Have a nice day. :-)
