$x + y = 10.........(1) \\ x = 10 - y...........(2)\\ 7x + 5y = 46........(3) \\now \: we \: put \: the \: value \: of \: x \: in \: equation \:( 3) \\ 7 \times (10 - y) + 5y = 46 \\ 70 - 7y + 5y = 46 \\ - 7y + 5y = 46 - 70 \\ - 2y = - 36 \\ 2y = 36 \\</p><p>y = 18 \\ now \: put \: te \: value \: of \: y \: in \: equation \: (2) \\ x = 10 - y \\ x = 10 - 18 \\ x = - 8 \\ hence \: the \: value \: of \: x \: and \: y \: is \: \\ (x = - 8) \: \: \: \: (y = 18)$
