$74- x = 3(x + 14) \\ 74 - x = 3x + 42 \\ 3x + x = 74 - 42 \\ 4x = 32\\ x = 32\div 4 \\ x = 9\\ so \\ son \: age \: = 9 \\ father \: age \: = 60 - 9 = 51$
