Thallophyta is a division of the plantkingdom including primitive forms ofplant life showing a simple plant body. Including unicellular to large algae, fungi, lichens. The first ten phyla arereferred to as thallophytes. They aresimple plants without roots stems or leaves.

Thallophyta are plants that have soft and fibre like structure because they do not possess true stems, leaves or roots.

Also they lack the two main conductive channels- Xylem ( for conduction of water) and phloem( for transportation of food and nutrients).

These structures provide the plant with a rigid body which lacks in case of thallophyta.
