Given,

The AP series is = 2,4,6,8.....

To find,

The 6th term of the AP series.

Solution,

We can easily solve this mathematical problem by the following mathematical process.

First term of AP (a) = 2

Common difference (d) = Second term - First term = 4-2 = 2

Number of terms (n) = 6

So, the 6th term will be

= a+(n-1)d

= 2+(6-1)2 [By putting the values.]

= 2+(5×2)

= 2+10

= 12

Hence, the 6th term will be 12.

SOLUTION

TO DETERMINE

The 6th term of an AP. 2,4,6,8

CONCEPT TO BE IMPLEMENTED

If in an Arithmetic progression (AP)

First term = a

Common Difference = d

Then nth term of the AP

 =  \sf{t_n = a + (n - 1)d}

EVALUATION

Here the given AP is 2 , 4 , 6 , 8

So the first term = a = 2

Second Term = 4

∴ Common Difference = d = 4 - 2 = 2

Hence the 6th term

 =  \sf{t_6}

 =  \sf{a + (6 - 1)d}

 =  \sf{a + 5d}

 = 2 + (5 \times 2)

 = 2 + 10

 = 12

FINAL ANSWER

The 6th term of an AP. 2 , 4 , 6 , 8 is 12
