The Venus fly trap is a herbivores plant that does not have any supply of nitrogen compounds, they completely depend on the insects for its nitrogen supply.  

The plant has tiny hair like structures protruding on its outer surface, when an insect touches this plant the plant becomes extremely sensitive and increases the turgor pressure inside, this increase in turgor pressure causes the leaves to close and thereby swallow the insect.
