The change in velocity of particle in time t₁ is zero.

Area under the acceleration - time graph is zero

The area of Δ AOB = area of Δ BCD

1/2 × OA × OB = 1/2 × BC × CD

(tanθ = OA/OB)

OB tanθ × OB = CD tanθ × CD

(OB)^2=(CD)^2

OB = CD

4 = t_{1} - 4

t_{1}=8 sec

Hence, The particle acquires its velocity at 8 sec.
