base=10cm
height=4cm
therefore area=b×h
10×4=40 sq cm
now,
consider 8cm as base
and x as height(the distance between the shorter sides)
area=40 sq cm
so the equation is =b×h=a
8×x=40sq cm
x=40/8
x=5 cm
therefore ,the distance between the shorter sides is 5cm.
