- Adjacent sides of parallelogram are - 5 cm and 8 cm, largest side = 8 cm, smaller side = 5 cm.
- Distance ( height ) between two longer sides is 4 cm.
- The difference between the shorter sides.
As we know, distance between two sides = height.
→ Distance between two larger sides is 4 cm. It means, height = 4 cm.
∵ Area of parallelogram = base × height
So,
Base = larger side ( in this case )
= 8 × 4
= 32 cm²
Now,
For shorter sides,
Area of parallelogram = base ( smaller side ) × height ( distance between them )
⇒ 32 = 5 × height
⇒
∴ height = 6.4 cm.
Answer :
The distance between the shorter sides is 6.4 cm.
