Solution :-

Given :

A velocity → time graph of a particle is provided.

To Find :

Value of acceleration of particle along OA, AB and BC.

Concept :

Acceleration is defined as ratio of change in velocity to the time interval.

Acceleration is a vector quantity.

Mathematically,

\underline{\boxed{\bf{\pink{a=\dfrac{\triangle{v}}{\triangle{t}}}}}}

Calculation :

  • Acceleration along OA

\implies\sf\:a=\dfrac{10-0}{10-0}\\ \\ \implies\sf\:a=\dfrac{10}{10}\\ \\ \implies\boxed{\bf{\red{a=1\:ms^{-2}}}}

  • Acceleration along AB

\mapsto\sf\:a=\dfrac{10-10}{20-10}\\ \\ \mapsto\sf\:a=\dfrac{0}{10}\\ \\ \mapsto\boxed{\bf{\blue{a=0\:ms^{-2}}}}

  • Acceleration along BC

\leadsto\sf\:a=\dfrac{0-10}{40-20}\\ \\ \leadsto\sf\:a=\dfrac{-10}{20}\\ \\ \leadsto\boxed{\bf{\green{a=-0.5\:ms^{-2}}}}

✴ Negative sign shows retardation.
