The area of shorter flower bed is 31.6 m^2 and the area of longer flower bed is  38.8 m^2.

Step-by-step explanation:

One direction constrains the width of the flower beds to be = 28 - 18 / 2 = 5

The other direction constrains the width to be = 34 - 24 / 2 = 5

Two flower beds each have bases 28 and 18, with height of 5;

and two flower beds each have bases 34 and 24 with height of 5.

  • Calculate each flower bed area.
