The age of a father is twice the sum of the ages of his 2 children. After 20 years his age will be the sum of the ages of his children. Find the age of the father

After 20 years ,

X + 20 = Y + 40

Now put the value of X from [equation - 1]

2Y - Y = 20

Y = 20

so , therefore , the age of the father = 2Y = 2 × 20 = 40 years
