We need to recall the basic rule of addition.

Given:

The age of a mother is 30 years more than the age of her son.

The sum of ages is 66 years.

Let x years be the age of a son.

Then, the mother's age is (x+30) years.

So,

x+(x+30)=66

2x+30=66

2x=66-30

2x=36

x=\frac{36}{2}

x=18

Thus, the age of the son is  18 years.

Hence, the mother's age is,

=18+30

=48 years

Find: Find the age of mother and her son

According to the question

Let the ag of son be x

Mother age =30+x

Sum of there age is 66

x+30+x=66

2x=36

x=18

So son age is 18

Mother age x+30=18+30

=48
