Answer:

Let the present age of person be x and the sum of the age of his 2 son be y

According to the question the present age

x=2y. ...(1)

and the age 5 year ago

(x-5)=3(y-5)

i.e. x-5=3y-15

i.e. x-3y = -10.

Putting the value of x from (1) , we get

2y-3y=-10

i.e.-y=-10

i.e y = 10

Putting this value of y in (1), We get

x=2(10)=20

Therefore the present age of person is 20 years and sum of the ages of his sons his 10
