Let the age of asha be 7x:2x

Eight years later ..hence

$\frac{7x + 8}{2x + 8} = \frac{5}{2} \\ \\ by \: cross \: multiplication \\ \\ 2(7x + 8) = 5(2x + 8) \\ \\ 14x + 16 = 10x + 40 \\ \\ 14x - 10x = 40 - 16 \\ \\ 4x = 24 \\ \\ x = \frac{24}{4} = 6$
So there present ages are as follows...

$asha = 7x = 7 \times 6 = 42 years \\ \\ sushma = 2x = 2 \times 6 = 12years$
