answer : let the son's present age be x

then the fathers age will is ( x+30 ) years

fathers age after 10 years = ( x+40 ) years

sons age after 10 years = ( x+10) years

x+40 = x+30

x+40 = 3 (x+10)

x+40 = 3x + 30

3x-x = 40 - 30

2x = 10

x = 10/2 = 5

so the sons present age will be 5yrs
