Suppose her age is expressed as 10A+B where A and B are integers.
Then her husband's age is 10B + A
The sum is 10A + B + 10B + A = 11(A+B)
The difference is 10B+A -(10A+B) = 9B - 9 A
The difference is 1/11 the sum so
9B - 9A = (1/11)(11(A+B))
9B - 9A = A + B
8B = 10A
4B = 5A
Remember A and B have to be integers.
What are two integers that work for this? (Answer below)
4B = 5A
4(5) = 5(4)
That is, her age is 45 and his is 54. Does it work
