Let present age of mother and daughter be 9X and 4X years respectively.

Five years ago age of mother = ( 9X - 5 ) years.

Five years ago age of daughter = ( 4X - 5 ) years.

According to the question,

2 ( 4X - 5 ) + 10 = 9X - 5

8X - 10 + 10 = 9X - 5

9X - 8X = 5

X = 5 years.

Present age of mother= 9X = 45 years.

And,

Present age of daughter = 4X = 20 years.
