Let Father's age = F, 1st child's age = C1 and 2nd child's age = C2
We have two conditions given in the question.
F = 2(C1 + C2) = 2C1 + 2C2 -------------- (i)
After 20 years,
F + 20 = C1+20+C2+20
F = C1 + C2 +20 ----------------------------- (ii)
Equating (i) and (ii), we get
2C1 + 2C2 = C1 + C2 + 20
C1 + C2 = 20
Putting this value in (i), we get F = 40
So father's age is 40 years.
