son=x+8

mother=2x²+8

as per question

2x²+8=3(x+8)+4

2x²+8=3x+24+4

2x²-3x-20=0

2x²-8x+5x-20=0

2x(x-4)+5(x-4)=0

(x-4)(2x+5)=0

x=4 or -5/2 but age can not be negative

so age of son=4 yrs

age of mother=2x²=2*16=32
