Answer:

Given:

Ratio of present ages of A and B is 5:3.

Thus,

Let the present age of A be 5x years

And the present age of B be 3x years.

So, after 6 years ,

Age of A will be (5x + 6) years

Age of B will be (3x + 6) years.

Now, according to the question,

The ratio of ages of A and B after 6 years will be 7:5.

=> (5x + 6):(3x + 6) = 7:5

=> (5x + 6)/(3x + 6) = 7/5

=> 5(5x + 6) = 7(3x + 6)

=> 25x + 30 = 21x + 42

=> 25x - 21x = 42 - 30

=> 4x = 12

=> x = 12/4

=> x = 3

Thus;

The present age of A = 5x years

= 5•3 years

= 15 years

The present age of B = 3x years

= 3•3 years

= 9 years

Hence,

The required sum of present ages of

A and B = (15+9) years

ie. 24 years.
