Step-by-step explanation:

Given,

Ratio of present ages of A and B = 3:5

let the age of A and B be 3x , 5x

Given that, After 8 year their ages are in the ratio 5:7.

=} After 8 years age of A = 3x +8

After 8 years age of B = 5x +8

wkt,

(3x+8)/(5x+8) = 5/7

by cross multiplying.. we get..

(3x+8)×7 = (5x+8)×5

21x + 56 = 25x + 40

=} 25x - 21x = 56-40

4x = 16

x = 4

We know that the present ages of A and B are 3x , 5x

= 3(4) = 12yrs

= 5(4) = 20yrs

therefore , the ages of A and B are 12yrs and 20yrs
