the ages of Rahul and haroon are in the ratio 5:7.Four years later the sum of their ages will be 56 years.What are their present ages

let the present ages of Rahul and Haroon be 5x and 7x. then after four years their sum of ages would be , 12x+8=56
=>x=48/12=4 years.
8 years should be subtracted from their sum of ages after four years because their sum of two four years should be subtracted.
and thus their present ages are 20 and 28 years.
