ANSWER:

  • Raju and Ravi age's are 12 and 16 years respectively.

GIVEN:

  • The age's of Raju and Ravi are in the ratio 3:4.
  • Four years from now, the ratio of their age's will be 4:5.

TO FIND:

  • Their present age's.

SOLUTION:

∅ Let the present age's of Raju and Ravi be 3x and 4x years respectively.

∅ Four years from now, their age's will be (3x + 4) and (4x + 4).

∅ According to the condition :

⟶ (3x + 4)/(4x + 4) = 4/5

⟶ 5(3x + 4) = 4(4x + 4)

⟶ 15x + 20 = 16x + 16

⟶ 15x - 16x = 16 - 20

⟶ -1x = -4

⟶ x = 4

∅ Raju and Ravi present age's :

⟶ 3x = 3(4) = 12 years

⟶ 4x = 4(4) = 16 years

VERIFICATION:

  • (3x + 4)/(4x + 4) = 4/5

⟶ (3(4) + 4)/4(4) + 4) = 4/5

⟶ (12 + 4)/(16 + 4) = 4/5

⟶ 16/20 = 4/5

4/5 = 4/5

∴ L.H.S = R.H.S
