Let the age of son be 1x
and the age of father 4x
After 9 years the age of son= 1x+9
After 9years the age of father =4x+9
1x+9/4x+9=2/5
5(1x+9)= 2(4x+9)
5x+45= 8x+18
5x-8x= 18-45
-3x=-27
x=9
The present age of son = 1× 9= 9 years
the present age of father = 9×4= 36 years
and the age of father 4x
After 9 years the age of son= 1x+9
After 9years the age of father =4x+9
1x+9/4x+9=2/5
5(1x+9)= 2(4x+9)
5x+45= 8x+18
5x-8x= 18-45
-3x=-27
x=9
The present age of son = 1× 9= 9 years
the present age of father = 9×4= 36 years
