Their present ages is 50 and 70.

Let Ages of two persons is 5x,7x

Eighteen years ago their ages were (5x-18),(7x-18) Their ratio is 8:13 so…

(5x-18)/(7x-18)=8/13

13(5x-18)=8(7x-18)

65x-234=56x-144

65x-56x=234–144

9x=90

x=10

Therefore their ppresent ages will be,

5(10),7(10)

50,70

Answer:

Let there present age be x

so,there ages now =5x and 7x

There ages eighteen years ago = (5x-18)and (7x-18),

and in ratio it is given as 8:13 so,

we can write it as ={5x-18}\{7x-18}=8/13

by cross multiple we get ={5x-18}13={7x-18}8

=65x-234=56x-144

=65x-56x=234-144

=9x=90

=x=10

after putting the value of x

we get =5x(5*10)=50

7x(7*10)=70

so there present ages are 50 years and 70years respectively.
