AM of the remaining observations = 6

Given :

The AM of 15 observations is 9 and the AM of 9 observations is 11

To find :

The AM of the remaining observations

Solution :

Step 1 of 2 :

Calculate the sum of 15 observations

Here it is given that AM of 15 observations is 9

∴ Sum of 15 observations

= AM × Number of observations

= 9 × 15

= 135

Step 2 of 2 :

Calculate the AM of the remaining observations

AM of 9 observations is 11

∴ Sum of 9 observations

= AM × Number of observations

= 11 × 9

= 99

∴ Remaining number of observations

= 15 - 9

= 6

Sum of remaining 6 observations

= 135 - 99

= 36

Hence AM of the remaining observations

\displaystyle \sf   =  \frac{36}{6}

\displaystyle \sf = 6
