as \: \tan( \alpha ) = | \frac{m1 \: - \: m2}{1 \: + \: m1m2} |
where alpha is angle between lines having slope m1 and m2

given alpha = 45°
tan(45°) = 1

on opening modulus and taking +ve sign
1 = (m1-m2)/(1 + m1m2)
putting m1 = 1/2 and solving for m2 we get
m2 = -1/3

similarly on taking -ve sign on opening mod we get m2 = 3

Hope you get it. :)
