The angle subtended at the eye by an object is equal to the angle subtended at the eye by the virtual image produced by a magnifying glass. In what sense then does a magnifying glass provide angular magnification?

Very Good Question . Thanks for asking it!!!!

As the size of the image is bigger than the size of the object

and angular size of image is equal to angular size of object.

we use magnifying glass to see the objects placed closer than the least distance of distinct vision 25cm

A closer object produces a greater angular size.

A magnifying glass provides angular magnification.

with magnification, object can be placed much closer to the eye.
