As we know that sum of all angles of a triangle is 180 

Now,

40 + 2y + (x-y)  = 180 

40 + 2y + 30 =180


2y =180 - 70

2y =110 

y = 110/2

y = 55


Now,


other angle is 

x -y  =30 

x - 55 = 30

x = 30+ 55

x = 85


Now,

x = 85

and 
y = 55
