Double population = 2000P

2000P = 1000P ( 1 + 2/100)ⁿ

=> 2 = (1.02)ⁿ

=> log2  = nlog(1.02)

=> 0.301 = n(0.0086)

=> n = 3010/86

=> n = 35

in 35 Years Population will be doubled.
