The answer to the question given is carbocation. However, since SbCl5 is already electron rich, with 10 electrons on the central Antimony atom, why would it accept a chloride in order to form the carbocation? Also, once formed, why does this result in racemisation, isn't this a feature of optically active compounds, with a chiral centre? Any sp2 hybridised carbocation would not be a chiral center, right? Please clarify. Don't spam.
