The are two fields one is a rectangle and the other is a square. The rectangular field measures 108 m long and 54 m broad, while the square field has a side of 78 m. Both the fields have to be fenced . Which field will require more fencing? Which field has greater area ?

Rectangle:

Length-108m

Breadth-54m

Perimeter- 2×(length+breadth)

= 2(108+54) m

=2×162m

=324m

Square:

Side-78m

perimeter-4×side

=4×78m

=312m

since the perimeter of rectangle is greater than the perimeter of square.

therefore, square field will require more fencing.

also, area of rectangle= length×breadth

=108×54m²

=5832m²

area of square= side ×side

= 78²

=6084m²
