The area of a field in the shape of a trapezium measures 144msq . The perpendicular distance between the parallel sides is 24m. If the ratio of the parallel sides is 5 : 3. What is the length of the longer parallel side?

let the sides be x

144= 1/2 × 24 ( 5x + 3x)

144 = 96x

144/96 = x

x = 1.5cm

5x = 1.5 × 5 = 7.5 cm
