Given:

The area of a rectangle and area of a square are equal.

The rectangle-

Its length (l) = 25 cm

Its breadth (b) = 16 cm

To find:

The side of the square

The formula to find the area of the rectangle is = l*b units sq.

Area of rectangle = 25 * 16

Area of rectangle = 400 cm sq.

According to the question,

The area of rectangle = area of the square

⇒ 400 = (side)²

[As the formula to find the area of the square is (side)² units sq.]

\sqrt{400} = side

⇒ 20 cm = side

Hence,

The side of the square is 20 cm.

More Information-

  • Perimeter of a rectangle = 2 (l + b) units.
  • Perimeter of a square = (4 * side) units

Question :

The area of a rectangle and a square are equal . if the length of the rectangle is 25cm and the breadth is 16cm. find the side of the square.

Given :

The area of a rectangle and area of a square are equal.

Length of Rectangle = 25 cm.

Breadth of Rectangle = 16 cm.

To find :

Side of the square.

Solution :

We know that,

Area of the rectangle = l × b.

So, Put the Values.

Area of rectangle = 25 × 16 sq.cm.

Area of rectangle = 400 sq.cm.

Now, We know that,

Area of Square = side × side.

According to the question,

Area of rectangle = Area of square.

side × side = 400 sq.cm.

side² = 400 sq.cm.

side = 20 cm.

Final solution :

Therefore, Side of square is 20 cm.

Thank you.
