Answer:

The measure of its breadth can be either 13m or 17m.

Let the breadth(b) be xm. So the length(l) becomes (x + 4)m.

The Area of the rectangle is 221 m².

According to the formula,

           Area of  the rectangle  = l * b

                                          221  = x(x + 4)

                                          221 = x² + 4x

                                           x² + 4x - 221 = 0

                                           x² + (17 - 13)x - 221 = 0

                                           x² + 17x - 13x -221 = 0

                                           x(x - 17) -13(x - 17) = 0

                                           (x - 17)(x - 13) = 0

So either,                                  Or,

x - 17 = 0                                    x - 13 = 0

which means x = 17                  which means x = 13.
