Step-by-step explanation:

Think about what is given.

It is a rectangle.

Its perimeter is 36.

Now, perimeter = 2×(l + b)

36 = 2×(l+b)

Or l+b =18

This is the only information that we have.

Now, this is true for infinite pairs of l and b.

So we cannot get a specific pair. So there could be infinite number of possible values of area as area = l×b.

Now, lets consider extreme values:l = 0 and b = 18, area will be 0×18=0.

When l+b is fix, l×b will be maximum when l=b.

So we get, area will be maximum when l = b = 9.

Maximum area will be 9×9 = 81 .

So from the given answer we can only say that area could be anything between 0 and 81.
